Coaching ~ Creativity and Career

Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, there lies your vocation.
                                                                                                                           ~ Aristotle

Do something you love and you will never work a day in your life.
                                                                                                   ~ Confucius

A fulfilling job or career can be a key source of personal happiness and positive self-esteem, and can also be a stabilizing support during life's other challenges.

Finding a vocation that suits you, your talents and interests, requires effort, but the payoff can be rewarding and ongoing.  And knowing the most effective job search strategies can enable you to search smarter, not harder.  This is true whether you are looking for a new job, changing careers or trying to move up within your current organization.

I take a holistic approach to job search and career development.  I focus both on the strategies of an effective search, and, when necessary, on the internal obstacles and challenges that might be inhibiting or limiting creativity or career growth.  As a psychotherapist, I can offer a more thorough approach to career development than other career counselors or coaches.

To help you in an effective search towards achieving your goals, I offer the following services:

Career Counseling

Whether you are looking for a new job, changing careers, or trying to move up within your current organization, knowing and applying the secrets of an effective job search can be invaluable in helping you achieve your desired goals. I have extensive experience helping people with effective job search, career transition, promotion and professional development.  Strategies covered include:

Finding and using the hidden job market                Developing a targeted search
Building professional relationships                          Identifying transferable skills
Understanding Networking                                    Creating achievement oriented resumes
        Exploring and information gathering

Career Support Group

Building a career is a journey.  It can be helpful to travel with others.  Groups can offer support and encouragement, share tips and leads, exchange information and even provide contacts.  And it can always lighten the load to know that you're not alone.  Members can also assist each other in applying the strategies discussed above in Career Counseling.  A career support group can be useful on its own or in conjunction with individual therapy or career counseling.

Creativity Support Groups

A creative pursuit can be another important component of a fulfilling and meaningful life, and like a satisfying career, can be a source of support and comfort during difficult times.  Because it is self-determined, creative work can provide a sense of autonomy and self-empowerment.  Creative practice can help you develop the sense of mastery that enhances self-esteem.  And because it draws upon deeper parts of yourself, and requires the use of self, creativity can help you learn more about yourself.   A creativity support group can be very helpful on its own and in conjunction with individual therapy.  Groups offered include:

            Writers' Support Group
General Creativity Support Group (for artists and performing artists)
